Dear Parent

Your son/ward is currently enrolled in a course here at Parramatta Marist High School. This course, is exploring some new technologies and how they can be useful in teaching and learning. Specifically, we’ll be looking at weblogs (often called “blogs”) and related technologies and how they can be useful for collaboration and communication with students via the Internet.

Students will be asked to create their own weblogs and to write to them. Because of the nature of this technology, your students’ work, with your permission, will be available online and accessible via the Internet.

We will learn this quarter about what is appropriate and what is not appropriate for online communication, and the students’ work will be monitored closely by me to ensure his/her safety and privacy are protected.

I hope that you, too, will monitor your student’s progress. Our goal is to create an online portfolio of student’s work that can be viewed by anyone who wishes to see it.
